COVID was first discovered on Dec. 12, 2019, in Wuhan, Hubei Providence, China. It is a virus that can cause severe medical complications and lead to death in some people.

The most recent common ancestor (MRCA) of all coronaviruses is estimated to have originated in about 8,000 BCE. Some models place the common ancestor as far back as 55 million years or more, implying long-term development of the virus. How long does immunity last after COVID-19? Because of the limited amount of research, it remains unclear how long the immune system will protect the patient after any previous infection.

Does the immune system get stronger after having the virus? Any time someone catches a virus and recovers, they keep antibodies in their bloodstream. These antibodies help your body fight off infections so that you either do not get sick or have mild symptoms.
