The holiday season is here. This means families will gather and the winter holiday travel will begin. With COVID-19 and its variants — including the new Omicron strain emerging from South Africa — still surging throughout the country; many questions have begun to pop up about how and where can one receive the vaccine or booster.

There is plenty of supply for adults to receive their booster or first/second doses among an ample supply of providers, according to the city of Chicago.

Like the first dose(s) of the COVID vaccine, the booster shots are available to everyone for free.

Individuals can call 1-800 Walgreens or use their app or website to schedule an appointment at one of their many locations. Those “interested in receiving the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 booster are strongly encouraged to make an appointment at CVS.com or MinuteClinic.com. Advanced scheduling is recommended for patients looking to receive a COVID-19 vaccine from a specific manufacturer to ensure that it is available at the clinic of their choice.”

Currently, “each participating CVS Pharmacy and MinuteClinic is offering either the Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine, not all three.”

The Red Shield Center will be at 945 W 69th St, Chicago, IL 60621 on December 2 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. There will also be a pop-up clinic at Michele Clark High School, located at 5101 W Harrison St, Chicago, IL 60644, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

People 5 years and older can receive their second dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID vaccine at CPS CIMPAR Mobile COVID-19 Vax Event- Hirsch HS — located at 7740 S Ingleside Ave, Chicago, IL 60619 — on December 3 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. They can also go to the pop-up clinic at Columbus Park, located at 500 S Central Ave, Chicago, IL 60644, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. that same day.

For further coronavirus pop-up events and vaccines information; log onto Chicago dot gov. Those seeking information about the vaccines or booster can do so by logging onto the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or the World Health Organization’s website. One’s primary care provider can also answer questions about the shots.
