This rare ailment has been recorded affecting individuals from age 12 and up.<\/p>\n<p>Youth affected by MIS can experience an array of symptoms:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Vomiting.<\/li>\n<li>Diarrhea.<\/li>\n<li>Fever lasting 24 hours or longer.<\/li>\n<li>Skin rash.<\/li>\n<li>Pain in the stomach.<\/li>\n<li>Feeling unusually tired.<\/li>\n<li>Rapid breathing.<\/li>\n<li>Fast heartbeat.<\/li>\n<li>Red eyes.<\/li>\n<li>Redness or swelling of the tongue and lips.<\/li>\n<li>Headache, lightheadedness, or dizziness.<\/li>\n<li>Redness or swelling of the feet and hands.<\/li>\n<li>Enlarged lymph nodes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The multisystem inflammatory syndrome is a serious condition and should be treated immediately if children experience:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Difficulty breathing.<\/li>\n<li>Pale, blue, or grey-colored skin, lips, or nail beds. Coloration depends on skin tone.<\/li>\n<li>Severe stomach pain.<\/li>\n<li>New confusion.<\/li>\n<li>Inability to stay awake or wake up.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Parents should contact their children&#8217;s physicians if they have any of the other symptoms. Doctors may want to conduct blood tests, or imaging tests of the abdomen, chest, or heart.<\/p>\n<p>Adults can become infected by multisystem inflammatory syndrome within weeks of recovering from COVID. MIS-A can occur in different parts of the body like the gastrointestinal tract, skin, brain, or heart.<\/p>\n<p>If an adult experience ongoing fever along with one of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bloodshot eyes.<\/li>\n<li>Diarrhea.<\/li>\n<li>Stomach pain.<\/li>\n<li>Skin rash.<\/li>\n<li>Vomiting.<\/li>\n<li>Dizziness or lightheadedness \u2014 signs of low blood pressure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>They should contact a nurse, clinic, or doctor right away.<\/p>\n<p>Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome can be a very serious infection. It is within people&#8217;s best interest to seek out medical attention as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>One report states that MIS-C is <a href=\"https:\/\/chicagoleader.com\/covid-19-causes-spike-in-mental-health-concerns-and-eating-disorders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a rare condition<\/a> that can occur two to six weeks after contracting COVID-19. The report further stated the patients complained of fever while showing symptoms and signs of multi-organ involvement with systemic inflammation.<\/p>\n<p>The condition was first recognized in April 2020.
